Dideoxynucleosides

Dideoxynucleosides are modified nucleosides that lack the 3’-OH group on their sugar moiety, which is required for the formation of the phosphodiester bond that links nucleotides in a growing DNA strand. Because of this, dideoxynucleosides act as chain-terminators during DNA synthesis.
